Home Theater System Guide
We explain the home theater system audio and video ins and outs - figuratively and literally!
In this handy system-guide section, we dig a little deeper, explaining those odd connectors and what they do.
Uh-oh, that brings up wire. Wire is the stuff that connects the connectors. You NEVER EVER SEE IT in those pretty pictures in magazines, and that makes those marketing guys all liars. They - no doubt - temporarily lose sight of their ethics in the blinding search for the perfect model to stand in profile and admire their gear in the advertisement.
Expensive wire is called cable. If you will take the advice we are about to offer to heart, you can save money right away. You wanted to BE an educated consumer or you wouldn't be nosing around the internet, right? We'll system-guide your wallet!
If you want to have some fun at someone else's expense (and thank God it isn't YOU!), go to your local big-box retailer and watch some moon-eyed sap being dragged around by the wallet, as the 'advisor' (ha!) throws more and more into the cart. "You NEED this," he says, as the sucker nods, completely lost. “And this.” “And this.” Booga booga.
Now pay attention, friend, because there's a retail game you need to know about called 'add-ons' which any self-respecting double-knit-shirt-wearing big box store sales weasel will try to scare you into buying. Why to buy, why NOT to buy, and WHEN TO BUY are all important.
Then there's "WHERE DOES ALL THIS GO?" all puckered up and ready to fly from the mouth of the significant other. Read on. Answer Ammunition is provided.
In the system-guide we'll also cover some trick accessories which can put the U in useful or the O in ostentatious.
